Richard Whincop Richard Whincop is a prize-winning Glasgow-based artist. His recent paintings look at the interactions between people today and the art and architecture of the past, and question the dividing line between art and reality. A feast for the eye and the mind, these ambiguous images present us with surprising, touching, or amusing contrasts, rendered with a rich and yet subtle palette. Born in Fordingbridge in Hampshire, Richard graduated in Art History at York University in 1986, and moved to Glasgow in 1988. Following a series of prestigious commissions throughout Scotland, his work sold out at its first showing in Glasgow Art Fair in 2005, and since then his stock has risen with a series of highly successful, headline-grabbing shows in Glasgow, Dublin and London.
