Andrew Hood
Andrew Hood is a Bristol based artist whose work can be found in galleries throughout the U.K. and abroad. He was brought up in Edinburgh until his family moved to Manchester where he worked as a graphic designer. He then returned to fulltime education to study illustration at john moores university Liverpool where he won the liverpool life painting open and gorstella award for painting. Since graduating he has worked mainly as a fine artist selling work throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.His paintings have been featured in the WH Smiths british artistsgreetings cards range and more recently have become available as limited fine art prints published by Osborne Allen. He has also received several corporate commissions including the BBC, where his work was featured on the set of casualty, hollyoaks on Channel 4 and wetherspoons plc.
Andrew has held two very successful one man shows at the Washington Gallery, Cardiff and has regularly been selected for the RWA autumn show in Bristol and more recently the SWA open. He is a regular exhibitor at the affordable art fair and battersea contemporary art fair. He sources much of his reference material abroad, most recently in morocco on a journey that took him from Tangier to Marrakech and to the west coast. He is fascinated by the people and their culture and is currently working on several paintings based on his experiences there.
