France Lowrie has enjoyed a long career in the arts, starting with her own Gallery, Art Exposure, in Parnie Street. For 28 years she helped to spotlight emerging artists and expanded her own practice. 

Still life painting has been a lifelong passion for Frances. She relishes the chance to capture the fleeting beauty of flowers, capturing a moment often overlooked in oil paint with all the alchemy of the medium.
Frances adores the light and atmosphere of Scotland’s beautiful West Coast, often working en plein air, building her studio work from sketches and colour notes. Frances's goal is to capture feel, character, the unique landscape and energy of the place. The ever-shifting light and weather makes for a challenging and compelling subject.
