Collection: Lesley McLaren
Born in Glasgow in 1959, Lesley McLaren's love affair with the countryside led her to Exeter College of Art and Design to complete her degree in painting. These days she lives and works in the picturesque Scottish Borders, drawing inspiration from the rich flora and fauna around her home. Infused with a sense of magic, her paintings are often reflections on time, memory, and the fleeting nature of both.
'My paintings reflect the fascination I have with the natural world, mostly that which surrounds me in my immediate environment. I live in the Scottish Borders, where the landscape and light is beautiful and varied – a rich source of inspiration from Belted Galloway cattle to Scottish Blackface sheep, barn owls to wrens. I live in a friendly small community beside a busy farm where there is an abundance of subjects to paint.'
