Collection: Tom Cotcher

I trained at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama from 1968 to 1971 and have since plied my trade as a professional actor working in Theatre, Television (‘The Bill’ for 4 years!) and Films. I am also a Voice Over Artiste... working as narrator for Television Documentaries and Books. Some years ago I was invited to paint a picture to be auctioned for charity... so I purchased a box of acrylic paints, a couple of brushes and a small canvas, then for the first time since my schooldays I began to paint again and was hooked. Self taught I work in various styles: e.g. my seascapes have a strong Edward Seago influence, whilst my Dutch landscapes are more traditional and my interiors are painted in what I call my 'Naive Matisse' style. 'Matisse' because they are highly colourful and 'Naive' because I really don't know what I'm doing! My pictures tell stories. It is up to the 'audiences' to decide the narrative of each painting. Should you need an amusing distraction from everyday mundane chores, please feel free to read my book : ‘I’m Clear, What’s It Like Up Your End?’ It's an amusing autobiographical account of an actor’s career, when things didn’t always go according to plan.
