Katy Ellis
Katy, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, has been painting and carrying a sketchbook from a young age.
Her parents' love of nature and joy of exploring it left a strong impression and now she feels a genuine need to be out walking and observing details in the landscape. She collects imagery by taking photographs and sketches along green lanes, through forests and waterways, later creating paintings of scenes partly remembered, felt and collated from what she has recorded.
She likes to work in watercolour using some areas of closely observed detail and some layering of colour combined with crisp loose washes.
